Materi dalam buku ini disajikan secara bertahap, mulai dari konsep dasar manajemen keperawatan, fungsi perencanaan, pengorganisasian, ketenagaan atau staffing, pengarahan, pengawasan dan pengendalian, hingga penerapan kepemimpinan, komunikasi, delegasi, supervisi, serta evaluasi dalam pelayanan keperawatan. Pembahasan juga diarahkan pada pemahaman mengenai pengelolaan sumber daya keperawatan dan upaya peningkatan mutu serta keselamatan pasien.
